This book makes it quite hard to get excited about the recipes. There are 10 pictures of the recipes including the front cover. With 75 recipes total, there’s barely any pictures for these so when reading through them it’s hard to gauge what they look like or how they will taste. Some of the recipes are so simple that they almost shouldn’t have been included. For example there is recipe for French Frys and it called for 2 ingredients, potatoes and salt. I get this is a beginner book but this seems like a beginner to all cooking not just plant based living. And being that it is a beginner book, that makes it so much more crucial that there are pictures to show off the recipes.
I started this lifestyle due to my health. I have RA and a friend recommended I go plant-based. I started about three months ago. For the first time in ten years, my fingers do not hurt! I am feeling better and stronger each day. I am no longer taking my medications. When starting this type of a lifestyle, it can be easy to wonder, "What can I eat?". This cookbook simplifies the plant-based diet, complete with a shopping list and sample menu. The first section of the book explains why we should live a plant-based lifestyle. Gabriel does a wonderful job explaining the benefits as well as tips on how to cook without oil, eat at a restaurant and an "Instead of this, eat that" section. There are fabulous pictures throughout the book that will make you excited to start cooking! This cookbook has not only opened my eyes to what I can eat, but has shown me that this lifestyle can be enjoyable! I would recommend this book to everyone! You will not regret it!
